Ski resorts a few hours from Barcelona
Barcelona, gateway to the best ski resorts in Europe
For snow lovers, one of the major advantages of the city of Barcelona is its proximity to some of the best ski resorts in Europe.
The resort of Baqueira Beret is just 285 km from Barcelona.
Located in the Aran Valley in the Catalan Pyrenees, its 161 km of pistes, 7 km of trails, 10 km of cross-country skiing and 1101 metres of elevation gain make it one of the most renowned ski resorts in Europe.
Just 190 km from Barcelona, in the Principality of Andorra, you can find the ski and snowboard slopes of Grandvalira, the largest ski resort in the Pyrenees and one of the largest in Europe, with 215 km of slopes.
Back in Spain, just 150 km from Barcelona, and only 2 hours from BCN, Masella, La Molina, Port del Comte, Vall de Núria and Vallter 2000 offer a huge number of slopes and services. Without a doubt the best option to go for a “sube y baja”, and to enjoy the snow.
The largest resorts in La Cerdanya are Masella and La Molina, both less than 2 hours from Barcelona. Together they make up a ski area of 141 km of runs and you can even buy a joint ski pass.
The ski resort of “La Molina” offers 71 km of slopes divided into 68 runs for all levels, a snowpark for beginners, and the largest superpipe in the Pyrenees.
Masella boasts the greatest night skiing in all of Spain. With a total of 74 km of skiable slopes, the resort is all forest and offers easy pistes for beginners and children’s areas for the little ones.
Vall de Núria is the closest to Barcelona. However, it is not directly accessible by car; it can only be reached by rack railway: 119 km by car + 12.5km of rack railway to climb over 1,000m in 40 minutes.
It is a small, friendly resort with just over 7 km of pistes.
Port del Comte, 143 km from Barcelona, is one of the best options if you want to enjoy a quiet day of skiing away from the crowds. Its 38 slopes and 50 km of skiable runs are surrounded by a stunning black pine forest.
Vallter 2000, 153 km from Barcelona, offers a total of 18 skiable km spread over 18 pistes.
It is one of the few resorts to offer a skimo slope. Its leisure park, where you can enjoy sledding, its Mini Club, and its Snow Garden make it the perfect destination for family fun.
