Ski resorts a few hours from Barcelona
Barcelona, gateway to the best ski resorts in Europe
For snow lovers, one of the great advantages of the city of Barcelona is its proximity to several of the best ski resorts in Europe.
285 km from Barcelona we find the station of Baqueira Beret.
Located in the Aran Valley, in the Catalan Pyrenees, its 161 km of groomed slopes, 7 km of routes, 10 km of cross-country skiing and 1101 meters of vertical drop make it one of the most famous resorts in Europe.
Just 190 km from Barcelona, in the Principality of Andorra, we find the ski and snowboard slopes of Grandvalira, the largest resort in the Pyrenees and one of the largest in Europe, with 215 kilometers of slopes.
Back in Spain, just 150 km from Barcelona, and only 2 hours from BCN, Masella, La Molina, Port del Comte, Vall de Núria and Vallter 2000 resort offers a wide range of slopes and services. Undoubtedly the best option for a “hit and run” and to enjoy the snow.
The largest ski resorts in Cerdanya are Masella and La Molina, both less than two hours from Barcelona. Together they form a ski area with 141 km of slopes, and it’s possible to purchase a combined ski pass.
The “La Molina” ski resort offers 71 km of skiable terrain spread over 68 slopes for all levels, a beginner snowpark and the largest superpipe in the Pyrenees.
Masella boasts the largest selection of night skiing in Spain. With a total of 74km of skiable terrain, the resort is entirely forested and offers easy slopes for beginners and children’s areas for the little ones.
Vall de Núria is the closest to Barcelona. But you can’t get there directly by car; you can only reach it by rack railway: expect a 119 km drive + 12.5 km on the rack railway to climb over 1,000 m in 40 minutes.
It is a small, family-friendly resort with just over 7km of slopes.
Port del Comte, 143km from Barcelona, is one of the best options if you want to enjoy a peaceful day of skiing without the crowds. Its 38 slopes and 50km of skiable terrain are surrounded by a beautiful black pine forest.
Vallter 2000, 153 km from Barcelona, offers a total of 18 km of skiing spread over 18 slopes.
It’s one of the few resorts to offer a ski touring slope. Its Leisure Park, perfect for sledding, its Mini Club, and its Snow Garden make it the ideal destination for family fun.
